VisioMod Juliet Balcony Railing

Formerly known as VisioMod Juliet Balcony Railing

JBR

Slim Juliet balcony railing for French doors. Frameless glass or bar infill options. EN 1090 certified, multiple RAL colours, quick installation.

Frameless Glass Juliet Balcony β€” 35mm Projection

The VisioMod Juliet Balcony is a French balcony safety barrier designed for full-height windows and inward-opening doors where no walkable balcony platform exists. A VSG laminated glass panel β€” available in 6+6mm, 8+8mm or 10+10mm tempered-and-laminated configurations β€” sits in a slim 25mm aluminium frame that projects just 35–45mm from the facade face. Side-fix brackets bolt directly into the window reveal or, with thermal-bridge-free versions, through WDVS/ETICS insulation systems up to 200mm thick. The barrier complies with EN 1991-1-1 residential load requirements (1.0 kN/m horizontal) and DIN 18065 fall protection for accessible openings above ground level. Glass widths range from 800mm to 2400mm per single panel; wider openings use two panels with a central slimline mullion post. Standard heights are 900mm and 1100mm. The aluminium frame powder-coats in any RAL colour (TIGER Drylac QUALICOAT Class II) with all fixings concealed behind the profile. The bottom frame includes an integrated drip edge for rainwater management β€” preventing facade staining over time.

PRODUCT ANSWERS

Practical answers about Juliet balcony railings.

Use these answers when comparing a French-door guard route against full balcony railing or frameless glass railing systems.

What is a Juliet balcony railing used for?

A Juliet balcony railing is used at French doors or full-height windows where the opening needs a protective guard but does not create a walk-out balcony platform.

Compare balcony railings β†’

When should a full balcony railing be reviewed instead?

Review a full balcony railing when there is a walkable slab, terrace edge, privacy requirement or longer guardrail run rather than only a French-door opening.

What should be checked before quotation?

Confirm opening width, facade condition, fixing surface, preferred infill, guard height, wind exposure and whether local documentation is needed.

TECHNOLOGY & DETAILS

Engineering That Performs.

35–45mm Projection

Ultra-slim profile sits almost flush with the facade β€” no protruding balcony slab, no structural cantilever required.

WDVS / ETICS Compatible

Thermal-bridge-free bracket system mounts through insulation layers up to 200mm without compromising the building envelope U-value.

VSG Safety Glass

Laminated tempered glass: if fractured, fragments remain bonded to the PVB interlayer β€” no shards fall to the street. Available clear, tinted, or privacy-frosted.

Concealed Hardware

All bolts and fixings sit inside the aluminium extrusion β€” zero visible fasteners on the street-facing facade.

Single Panel to 2400mm

No intermediate posts needed up to 2400mm width. Wider openings handled with a slimline 25mm mullion β€” minimal visual interruption.

Integrated Drip Nose

Bottom frame profile includes a water-shedding drip edge that keeps the facade clean beneath the panel.

APPLICATIONS

Where It Works.

Juliet balconies are specified wherever building regulations require fall protection at full-height windows β€” typically windows where the sill height is below 900mm…

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions.

A Juliet balcony (or French balcony) is a fall-protection barrier mounted directly to the building facade in front of a full-height window or door. There is no external walkable platform β€” it is a safety barrier only.

EN 1991-1-1 residential barrier load: 1.0 kN/m applied horizontally at the top rail. This covers a person leaning against the glass or moderate wind pressure.

Yes. Thermal-bridge-free brackets pierce the insulation with minimal contact area. Available for insulation thicknesses up to 200mm. Installation does not compromise the facade's thermal performance.

VSG 6+6mm (standard residential), VSG 8+8mm (higher load or wide panels), VSG 10+10mm (commercial grade). Clear, low-iron clear, tinted (grey, bronze), or privacy-frosted.

In most German BundeslΓ€nder, installing a Juliet balcony on an existing window does not require a building permit as it is classified as a facade element rather than structural alteration. However, regulations vary β€” your PONARC dealer can provide the necessary structural documentation.

2400mm single panel without intermediate post. Wider openings up to 4800mm use two panels with a 25mm central mullion.
